The trigger is what starts your initiative. Cloziq gives you six to choose from, so you can catch people wherever they engage with you.
The trigger types
- Comment on Specific Post or Reel: starts when someone comments on a post or reel you choose. Great for "comment WORD to get this" campaigns.
- Comment on Next Post or Reel: claims your next post automatically, so you can set it up before you publish. See the note below, because "next" is more specific than it sounds.
- DM keyword / any message: starts when someone sends you a DM, either containing a specific word or any message at all.
- Story reply: starts when someone replies to a story you pick. Perfect for "reply YES to this story" promos.
- Comment on IG Only Ad: starts when someone comments on one of your Instagram ads.
- Reply to Ad: starts when someone replies to one of your ads.
How "Comment on Next Post or Reel" picks its post
This one watches exactly one post, not every post you publish from now on.
When you activate the initiative, it starts waiting. The first post you publish after that becomes its post, and it stays on that post for good. Everyone who comments there gets the initiative; nothing you publish later is touched.
Pausing resets the wait. When you resume, it starts waiting again from that moment, so anything you published while it was paused is skipped. Because that is easy to get wrong, resuming asks you first, with one of two questions depending on whether it already claimed a post: "Resume on the post it already started?" or "Resume and wait for your next post?"
The practical rule: activate it shortly before you publish the post you want it on.
Picking a specific post
Comment on Specific Post or Reel opens a picker showing your published posts and reels.
It loads a page at a time. If you do not see the post you want, click Show more at the bottom to pull in the next batch, and keep going until it turns up. Older posts are reachable, they are just not all loaded at once.
How keyword matching actually works
A few details that save head-scratching later:
- Matching is not case sensitive, and the keyword can appear anywhere in the comment or message. "START", "start please", and "can I Start?" all match a "start" keyword.
- You can list several keywords, and any one of them fires the trigger.
- Or choose any word mode, where any comment or message at all sets it off.
- If someone's action ever matches more than one of your active initiatives, the one you created first wins. In practice you will rarely see this, because Cloziq refuses to activate the second initiative in the first place and tells you which keywords collide. See Why Cloziq blocked this activation.
Replying to the comment too
For comment triggers, you can turn on an automatic public reply, so Cloziq answers under the comment (something like "Sent you a message! Check it out!") while the DM goes out. You can give it up to 3 phrasings, and Cloziq varies them so your comment section does not look copy-pasted.
A note on ad triggers
The two ad triggers need read access to your Facebook ad accounts before they will work. Cloziq walks you through connecting the first time you pick one. See Using ad triggers.
Tips
- "Comment on Next Post or Reel" is perfect when you want the automation armed before a launch post goes up. Activate it the same day you post, so it claims the right one.
- Use distinct keywords when a single popular post should lead to more than one outcome.
- Story replies are some of the warmest leads you will get; a story trigger plus a short qualifying flow is a strong combination.
