How booking and checkout work in DMs

The conversion stage is where a conversation turns into a booked call or a sale. Here is exactly how your agent behaves there, including the fallbacks, so you can read any transcript and know why the agent did what it did.

Booking a call in the chat (connected Calendly)

If your Book Call agent uses connected Calendly with in-chat booking, the agent books the call without the prospect ever leaving Instagram:

  1. Name and email first. Calendly needs both to create the booking, so Cloziq collects them automatically at this point. There is nothing to configure: if your sales flow happened to capture them already, the agent reuses those answers instead of asking twice; otherwise it simply asks now. Either way, booking always gets what it needs.
  2. Two times at a time. The agent offers a couple of concrete slots from your calendar, shown in the prospect's timezone when they have mentioned it. Availability is re-checked as the conversation goes, so it does not offer a slot that was just taken.
  3. Picking a time. The prospect can answer naturally: "the earlier one", "Tuesday works", "5pm". If the answer is genuinely ambiguous, the agent asks which one they meant; if it still cannot tell after a couple of tries, it sends your scheduling link so the prospect can pick visually instead of looping.
  4. "Neither works." The agent fetches fresh times and offers again. If the prospect turns down several rounds of slots, it stops offering and sends the scheduling link.
  5. Booked. Once the booking is confirmed, the conversation is marked Call Booked, the agent confirms the time, and your call reminders (if enabled) take over from there. The agent remembers the booked time and the call's own details, so "wait, when was my call?" and "how long is it?" both get real answers rather than facts about your program. On an external booking link, where Cloziq has no view of your calendar, it says it does not have that detail instead of guessing.

If Calendly ever cannot complete a booking (a configuration issue, a revoked connection), the agent does not pretend. It falls back to sending the scheduling link, and if even that is not possible, it hands the conversation to you.

Booking with an external link

If you chose an external booking URL instead, the agent's job is simpler: it qualifies, then delivers your link with a natural lead-in. The link always arrives in its own message. Cloziq cannot see bookings that happen on an external site, so the conversation shows Awaiting Booking unless you follow up manually.

Checkout through Cloziq (Stripe)

If your Close Sale agent's offer sells through Cloziq, the agent sends a secure checkout link in the chat once the prospect is ready. A few details worth knowing:

  • The link is personal. Each checkout is created for that specific prospect and conversation, which is how sales in Earnings trace back to the exact agent, initiative, and conversation that produced them.
  • Email comes with checkout. Stripe requires the buyer's email to complete payment, and that is the address Cloziq uses for delivery and receipts. Your sales flow never needs to collect it for a DM sale.
  • Links do not go stale. Checkout links in old messages keep working: if a prospect clicks one days later, it opens a fresh, valid checkout rather than an expired page.
  • Promotion codes work. The checkout page accepts Stripe promotion codes, so you can run discounts without changing your offer.
  • Multi-tier offers. If your offer has pricing tiers, the agent presents the options with real names and prices, asks which one the prospect wants, and creates the checkout for exactly that tier. If they change their mind before paying, the agent swaps tiers without re-selling from scratch.
  • The sale is confirmed by payment, not by promises. The conversation becomes a Customer only when the payment actually completes. If a prospect says "just paid!", the agent thanks them once and waits for the confirmation to arrive.

After a completed purchase, delivery kicks in automatically for digital offers: a download email and a DM with the buyer's access link. See How buyers download their purchase.

Checkout on your own site

If the offer uses an external checkout URL, the agent delivers that link the same way, but Cloziq cannot see what happens on your site. The conversation shows Awaiting Purchase, and the sale will not appear in Earnings automatically.

If a link cannot be sent

On the rare occasion Cloziq cannot create a checkout or scheduling link (for example, your Stripe account is not ready to take payments), the agent does not promise a link that never comes. It stops, the contact is flagged Needs Human Intervention, and you get a notification so a real person can step in. The fix is usually in Settings → Integrations; see Payments not going through.
