An agent is either a draft you are still working on or a live agent handling conversations. Here is how to move between those states.
Publish an agent
When your agent is ready, click Publish Agent. Cloziq checks your whole setup first. If anything is missing, it lists exactly what to fix and jumps you to the right tab; each tab also shows a count of its outstanding issues. Once everything checks out, the agent goes live and its status changes to Active.
A live agent still does nothing on its own until you connect it to an initiative. See Build your first Initiative.
Two checks catch people out more than the rest, and both are about writing rather than settings:
- A qualification step has to end on its question. Context first, question last, so the step finishes on the question mark. See Building your sales flow.
- A guardrail line has to be specific enough to act on. One or two vague words will not pass. See Setting guardrails.
Neither check is busywork. A step that trails off after its question reads badly to a prospect, and a rule the agent cannot act on does nothing at all. Both are easier to fix now than after the agent is talking to people.
Edit a live agent
A published agent's core setup is locked so the conversation cannot change underneath live prospects. You can still update the name, the avatar, and everything on the Automation tab while published.
For anything else, click Unpublish. Cloziq confirms with a warning worth reading closely: unpublishing pauses all active initiatives using this agent. Conversations already in progress keep going with the version they started on, but no new ones start until you republish. The affected initiatives show a Paused badge whose info icon reads "Paused: Agent unpublished".
Turning those initiatives back on
You do not have to remember which initiatives were paused. When you publish the agent again, Cloziq asks first: Turn your paused initiatives back on? It lists the ones it paused for you, and gives you a choice.
- Activate & Publish publishes the agent and switches those initiatives back on.
- Only Publish, under the arrow beside it, publishes the agent and leaves them paused.
- Cancel does neither.
Reactivation runs after the agent goes live, and each initiative still has to pass its own checks, so partial success is normal. Cloziq tells you plainly which way it went, for example "Agent published. 3 initiatives reactivated, 1 needs attention on the initiatives page."
The offer is deliberately narrow. It only covers initiatives that this agent's unpublishing paused. If you pointed an initiative at a different agent in the meantime, already resumed it by hand, or it paused again for another reason like a disconnected channel, it is not in the list and you resume it yourself from the Initiatives page.
Archive or delete an agent
From an agent's card menu you can also Duplicate it (a quick way to try a variation) or remove it:
- If the agent has never been used in an initiative, you can delete it outright.
- If it has been used, you archive it instead, which retires it while keeping your conversation history and reporting intact.
Tips
- Plan edits for a quiet moment. The pause only lasts as long as your edit session, but during it, new prospects are not picked up.
- Status badges tell you where each agent stands at a glance: Active is live, Training is a draft, and Archived is retired.
- If you just want to tweak reply timing, reminders, or lead forwarding, there is no need to unpublish at all; Automation stays editable live.
