Sometimes a prospect does not want to hear from you. When someone says so plainly, your agent stops. Not with a polite sign-off, not with one more offer, just stops.

What counts as opting out

A clear, unmistakable request to be left alone. Things like "not interested", "stop messaging me", "take me off your list", "unsubscribe", or a bare "stop".

The conversation ends the moment one of these arrives, at any point in the flow, whether it is the first reply after they tapped in or the last question before checkout.

What happens

Three things, all at once:

  • The conversation ends and the contact becomes Disqualified.
  • Nothing is sent. No goodbye, no confirmation, no last pitch. Replying to someone who just asked you to stop is the fastest way to get reported, so the agent says nothing at all.
  • Any reply the agent already had queued is cancelled, so nothing arrives seconds later.

The agent will not restart that conversation. If you want it to be able to engage that person fresh later, that is a deliberate choice you make on the contact with Allow New Sales Conversation. Think hard before you do; they asked you to stop.

What does not count

This is deliberately narrow, because ending a conversation early is expensive. The agent keeps going when someone is merely pushing back:

  • Objections. "That's too expensive", "I'd need to think about it", "not sure it's right for me." These are normal selling moments and the agent works through them.
  • Hesitation. "Maybe later", "let me check with my partner." The prospect is still in the conversation.
  • Partial disinterest. "I'm not into the nutrition part" is about one piece of your offer, not about you messaging them.
  • A plain "no" answering a question. If the agent asked "have you trained with a coach before?" and they say no, that is an answer, not an exit.

Where these land in your reporting

Opt-outs are counted as Disqualified, alongside people your rules filtered out. There is no separate opted-out status.

They do not appear in Needs Human Intervention. Cloziq checks for an opt-out before it checks whether someone is asking for a human, so an opt-out always ends the conversation rather than queueing it for you. If you work the Needs Human Intervention list as your daily inbox, people who opted out will not be waiting there.

Tips

  • A rising number of opt-outs early in conversations usually points at the opt-in message rather than the agent. If people tap in and immediately back out, the message promised something different from what arrived.
  • Do not write a guardrail disqualification rule for "not interested". It is already handled, and a broad rule risks catching ordinary objections you would rather your agent worked through.
